Pavel Brázda is Here!

On 1 June, we saw the opening of an exhibition of a renowned Czech artist, Pavel Brázda in the Library of Birmingham, under the auspices of the Czech Embassy in London. The exhibition is open until 1 July and is curated by Miroslav Ambroz, Czech art historian, and Johnathan Watkins, Director of the Ikon gallery.  
​The doyen of Czech art was not able to travel to the event but was represented by his wife and collaborator, Mrs. Věra Nováková. 
Mrs. Věra Nováková, accepted from the Czech vice-minister of Culture, Mrs. Kateřina Kalistová, the Artis Bohemiae Amicis medal on behalf of Pavel Brázda for his lifelong contribution to the promotion of Czech culture. A reception at the Library of Birmingham took place afterwards, with a performance by the Belfiato Quintet, followed by the official opening of the exhibition named “Pavel Brázda is Here!”.
A family workshop run by Tereza Bušková also took place as part of the event and was attended by a great number children who created prints based on Pavel Brázda's work.
