The Czech & Slovak Club England is a community interest company that brings the culture of the Czechs and Slovaks living in Warwick and the West Midlands to the wider public. We organise cultural, social and educational events for everyone who is interested in other cultures; and we run a supplementary school where we teach Czech and Slovak to children and adults. We celebrate Czech and Slovak festivities and follow traditions such as Velikonoce, Fašiangy, Pálení čarodějnic, etc.
Our primary goal is to run a supplementary school and nursery for children of Czech & Slovak descent where they learn and practise the Czech or Slovak language through play, explore Czech & Slovak traditions and engage with Czech & Slovak culture. We work closely with other Czech and Slovak schools in the United Kingdom, with which we share experience and resources. From September 2019, the school meets every two weeks on Sunday at Emscote Infant School in Warwick. We organize regular or one-off activities - we invite theatre ensembles from the Czech and Slovak republic, we organize art workshops, trips, family picnics, film screenings. We arrange quizzes, sports and events for children. We also participate in multicultural meetings and presentations and organize fundraising events for various purposes. We try to arrange music concerts of Czech and Slovak singers and groups. We are pleased to announce that we have recently became a part of Česká Obec project, which offers legal, social and health care advice to compatriots living in the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
